Today, January 19, 2023 culminated the work that began in 2018 with the recognition to Austral Chemicals and the 28 participants of our project to the “Management Plan for the Elimination of HCFCs in Chile”.
In the closing workshop organized by the Ministry of Environment and the UNPD (United Nations Development Program) and respectively represented by Lorena Alarcon (Ozone Unit) and Miguel Quinteros was delivered to Lorrena Saguer, our expert in Polyurethane a certificate of recognition to Austral Chemicals Chile S.A., for its participation in the sustainable use of substances that do not affect the ozone layer or climate change.
In 2018 Austral Chemicals committed to eliminate the use of HCFC-141b as a blowing agent for the production of polyurethane foam. As a pioneer in the chemical industry in Chile, the company switched its technology to hydrofluorolefins (HFOs) and others, thus supporting the Chilean Government's commitment as well as complying with future environmental laws.
Austral is proud to have encouraged its customers to take part in the conversion to more sustainable technologies. This initiative characterizes Austral's mission, among others, to simply take care of our planet. That is why we have recently become ISO 14001 certified, a standard focused on environmental management.
