The Ministry of the Environment and the UNPD (United Nations Development Program) presented a certificate of recognition to Austral Chemicals Chile S.A., for their participation in the sustainable use of substances that do not affect the ozone layer or climate change.
For more than 10 years, Austral Chemicals has been selling polyurethane systems for thermal insulation and began in 2017 to replace refrigerant gases by sustainable alternatives.
We are part of the "Foam Sector Support Program", which is funded by the Multilateral Fund of the Montreal Protocol, through the Ozone Unit of the Ministry of the Environment, and we have begun to replace the use of HCFC-141b. The latter is mainly used as a blowing agent for the production of polyurethane foam, but when released into the atmosphere weakens the ozone layer and contributes to global warming, it is necessary to look for alternatives and replace their use.
Austral Chemicals already offers new technologies based on hydrofluorolefins (HFO) and others to completely eliminate the use of HCFC-141b in 2020 and thus support the commitment of the Government of Chile as well as complying with future environmental laws.
